Adult Training
At Troop 143, we have a goal of 100% trained leaders. We ask everyone to go to the My Scouting website to explore all the online training opportunities available. Go to the site, click on “My Dashboard” in the upper left hand corner. Click on Training Center, then Boy Scouting and Varsity and find your training.

Merit Badge Counselor Required Training
- Completed Merit Badge Counselor Application. Click  MERIT BADGE COUNSELOR APPLICATION to print an application.
- Certificate of valid YPT
- Certificate of completed Merit Badge Counselor training on my.scouting.org

If you are not yet a Merit Badge Counselor, please plan on filling this important role. There are 137 Merit Badges available for counseling. All counselors need to complete the online training prior the end of October.

Wilderness First Aid Training Opportunities
Wilderness First Aid (BSA)
Atlanta Area Council
Wilderness First Aid Courses do not include the required CPR/AED training that is required to the Wilderness First Aid certified. This means that both the CPR and the Wilderness First Aid course must be taken. SOLO does not require the CPR certification but is more expensive.

- 2023 dates are December 9, 8:00am-5:00pm
- Cost is $60
- Attendees need to be a minimum of 14 years old
- Wilderness First Aid

- Cost is $75 per participant

The AAC Wilderness First Aid course requires Red Cross CPR/AED certification. You should be able to take a red cross course to become certified and then attend the Wilderness First Aid to become fully certified. Red Cross courses are available here.
Wood Badge TRAINING
Wood Badge training was begun by Baden Powell in 1919 as a way to assure that the leaders of Scout Troops were properly trained. Since then, Wood Badge training has been held worldwide providing advanced leader training to thousands of Scout Leaders.
Wood Badge is considered the premier leadership training course for Scout Leaders. Wood Badge for the 21st Century is available to registered leaders of all levels of the Scouting program. It concentrates on providing training on modern leadership skills needed in today’s world for Scout leaders. Wood Badge Training will not only make you a better Scout Leader, it will also assist you in improving your personal and professional life as well.
Through Wood Badge you will gain valuable tools in listening, communicating, conflict management, project planning and leading change. You will learn to better understand and leverage diversity and the generational differences of society. You will learn to lead with a vision. You will learn the skills that will make you a better Scout Leader to benefit the youth we serve.
Every Scout deserves a well-trained leader. Are you that leader? Get Wood Badge trained and you will be. In doing so, you will change not only your life but also the lives of all that you touch.

Youth Protection Training
The YPT training modules can be found on the my.scouting.org website. Please make sure you are logged in under your registered Troop 143 BSA ID number (please contact Ryan Downs if you wish to confirm your T143 registered BSA ID). All the combined modules will require approximately 90 minutes to complete.
Once you have completed your YPT Training, please email a copy of your completed YPT certification to Ryan Downs for verification and he will confirm the troop roster system reflects the new completion date.
